Many a times we start working on something or think of a task and go about doing it when suddenly we realize that there's something missing or that we've forgotten something?

For me, it's always been a case of thinking ahead of time - planning the next steps, thinking of adversities and preparing back up plans in case the need arises.

Over the last few years, with a conscious shift in my thoughts and practices towards a more meaningful and conscious lifestyle, I've also been working on not thinking too much.

Trust me this is extremely difficult but not impossible.

Some of the things I've been doing to make this work include Focusing, Presence practice, breathing techniques etc

While most of these at a foundation level talk about being in the present and bringing your attention to the present moment, each of these work at myriad levels and help achieve your objective.
